The Walking Dead alum David Morrissey is boarding the second season of CBS's summer event series Extant.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he'll have a recurring role in the sci-fi thriller as Gen. Tobias Shepherd, the charming and respected head of the global security commission whose personal history with Halle Berry's Molly Woods complicates his work as humanity faces a deadly new threat.

Produced by Steven Spielberg, Amblin Entertainment and CBS Television Studios, Extant stars Berry as an astronaut who returns home after a year-long solo mission in space to discover she's pregnant.

The network in December announced a shakeup for Season 2, with Berry to return alongside Pierce Gagnon as her robot son and Grace Gummer as her husband’s assistant, while the rest of the cast members would see their roles greatly reduced or cut entirely for the second season. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was added just last month.
