Prior to playing Felix Carlucci on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, actor Nico Tortorella appeared in a variety of shows and movies. Two of the most prominent appearances in their filmography are on The Following Season 1 and TV Land's Younger. In that latter comedy-drama series, Tortorella plays a tattoo artist named Josh.

During a set visit for World Beyond attended by CBR, Tortorella compared their experience working on Younger to that of the upcoming AMC show.

"I was on The Following before Younger," Tortorella explained, "which I feel like is much more of this world than Younger. So I'm kind of, like, playing ping pong back and forth. It's nice. The dramaturgy of this show is challenging in a way that Younger never could provide. I mean, Josh is a great role, and the show is so easy and fun and light-hearted and really a joy to be a part of. But I'm not showing up to work being challenged as an actor, you know. And I am here. Every day. Emotionally, physically, this is the hardest thing I've ever done. I've worked more on this than any other job I've ever been on. And there's an emotional demand that is an actor's dream."
