After nine seasons, there is still one thing that fans have never seen on The Walking Dead -- a winter storm.

According to the synopsis for The Walking Dead season 9 finale, that could be changing very soon, since it reportedly describes an approaching blizzard that will see the human survivors have to deal with walkers stumbling through the snow.

Here is the synopsis (via Bloody Disgusting):

"In the aftermath of an overwhelming loss, the communities must brave a ferocious blizzard; as one group deals with an enemy from within, another is forced to make a life or death decision.”

Now, this synopsis reveals a few things that fans of The Walking Dead comics could get excited about. First, The show's Season 9 finale will finally bring snow to the AMC zombie television series. While ice and snowy winters have been a regular part of the Robert Kirkman-written comic book series for years, it's reportedly been too expensive to do on the live-action TV series. However, it seems like that is no longer the case.

The other thing worth getting excited over is the statement that there could be an "overwhelming loss" before the blizzard. This could be The Walking Dead's equivalent to Game of Thrones' "Red Wedding" moment, as anyone who knows what happens to the survivors at the approaching Fair might be aware of.

Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC, The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura.
