WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 1o, Episode 12 "Walk With Us."

Following the aftermath of the fiery conflict at Hilltop with the Whisperers, there's been a pause in The Walking Dead's Whisperer War. However, the carnage is likely far from over. Due to The Walking Dead's propensity to killing off its characters, it's unlikely all the remaining characters will make it out of this season alive. Here's our assessment of who might die in the battles to come.

Daryl

The crossbow wielding fan-favorite, Daryl, has tussled with both Whisperer leader, Alpha, and second-in-command, Beta. Now with Alpha dead and Beta in the wind, he probably won't have to fight anytime soon. Daryl is one of the more popular characters, and unless a major shift in the main cast is in the works, it's a safe bet Daryl won't be killed off just yet.

Odds of Dying: Pretty Low

Carol

Carol in The Walking Dead Season 9

Carol, the once motherly role model, has become so impulsive Daryl has taken a stand against her rash decisions. She sought revenge for what Alpha did to her son, Henry, and finally obtained it by releasing Negan from prison in Alexandria and having him become a Whisperer.

Carol always takes action when she feels it's necessary, believing her efforts, no matter how misguided, are for the greater good. However, in this case, there were unintended consequences and her own people got hurt. Now that Alpha's gone, it will certainly paint Negan as a target, but if Beta finds out Carol is the one who put that plan into motion, she will be too.

Odds of Dying: Fairly High

Ezekiel

The king has contributed much, but has also gone through his fair share of hardship. After losing the battle at Hilltop, Ezekiel's main priority was to ensure the children's safety. For some reason, he was separated from them and found under some sheet metal by Daryl and Jerry. They eventually found the kids, but the question of what happened still lingers.

If Ezekiel was easily overtaken by walkers or others, then he probably isn't in the best condition. The cancer he's suffering from could be affecting his body faster than he realizes, and when he discovers what Carol did, the emotional turmoil could accelerate his pain.

Odds of Dying: Somewhat High

Aaron

Aaron was first introduced as gentle and kindhearted, but has become cynical and unforgiving. When the Whisperers set a border, Aaron completely disregarded it without hesitation. He also voted to have Negan killed after his actions in Alexandria led to someone's death.

He was last seen dragging a wounded comrade only to bump into Negan, who he would have attacked if walkers hadn't appeared, forcing Aaron to prioritize defending himself against them over taking out Negan. His attitude toward Negan might not change when he finds out what Negan did for Carol. Mary's death at the hands of Beta may also increase his anger against the Whisperers, and potentially cause him to make ill-advised choices.

Odds of Dying: Fairly High

Beta

Beta is fiercely loyal to the Whisperers, but even more so to Alpha, who he promised to capture Lydia for. While he didn't find Lydia, he did track down Mary. Beta stabbed Mary so she would die and reanimate as part of the horde, but when Alden took out zombie Mary, Beta scampered off.

Beta is in the wind for now, but when he eventually finds out about Alpha's death, the Whisperers could become even more vicious under his leadership. With Alpha gone, it seems he's the main antagonist to be taken down, but it won't be easy given how cunning and ruthless he is.

Odds of Dying: Somewhat Low (For Now)

Lydia

Lydia was last seen being captured by Negan who seemingly wanted to bring her to Alpha. The reality was, while he tied her to a chair somewhere, he never intended to give her up to Alpha. Lydia managed to set herself free and escape but was limping after the battle at Hilltop, so chances are she needs to get help soon. Her safety is dependent on whether she reunites with the others, but it's safe to assume she won't die yet.

Odds of Dying: Fairly Low

Eugene

Eugene in The Walking Dead

The geek-turned-engineer has been through a lot, but his interactions with Stephanie through the radio have been encouraging. They even set up a date to meet in person just before the battle at Hilltop. This gave Eugene something to look forward to, but in the aftermath of the battle he's not sure he should go. Carol encourages him to go see Stephanie despite everything that's happened. If Eugene is determined to leave everyone and journey alone for his "date," however, he could end up in a bad place.

Odds of Dying: Somewhat High

Rosita

Speaking of relationships, Rosita's seem to end badly. She recently had a child with Siddiq, but he was murdered by Dante. Now Rosita and Gabriel are in a relationship, but where they stand is somewhat unclear. Interestingly, becoming a mother has affected Rosita, sometimes more than she realizes. She worries that Coco will grow up an orphan, even having nightmares where they both are about to die. Fortunately, she remains a capable fighter. She escaped with some others from a burning Hilltop and will live to see her daughter again.

Odds of Dying: Somewhat Low

Negan

Negan in the Walking Dead

The ex-Savior leader appears to be on a path of redemption. He rescued an injured Lydia and killed Alpha for Carol. However, if his interactions with Alpha are any indication, Negan is skilled at manipulating others. This could end up being the case with Carol, with him only helping her as a way to get something in return. If this turns out to be the case, Negan will be hated yet again by the survivors, and also targeted by Beta when he discovers Alpha's fate.

Odds of Dying: Reasonably Low

Others

The Walking Dead has introduced viewers to many new characters only to have them die soon after, and the small crew led by Yumiko could fall into that category. After Carol's actions left Connie and Magna trapped inside a cave, Yumiko was shocked to discover the latter among the horde marching against Hilltop. However, Connie was separated from Magna and her whereabouts are still unknown. Depending on what the group faces in the future, this crew could end up risking their lives to save Connie.

Odds of Dying: Reasonably High
