The Whisperers are back, and they may be coming for AMC's The Walking Dead's other infamous villain, Negan.On Twitter, AMC's official The Walking Dead account released a video featuring the elusive Whisperers and Negan ahead of the show's impending 10th season.
In the 10-second promotional video, Negan finds himself in the forest cautiously searching around him. The sequence then cuts to quick shots of the Whisperers, with one pulling down his Walker mask over their face. The video then cuts back and forth between Negan and the Whisperers until the title screen appears along with the air date for the premiere of Season 10.
Season 10 of The Walking Dead will feature a small time jump, as the survivor communities of Alexandria and Hilltop face strict borders imposed on them by the Whisperers. With tensions running high between and within the various factions, the fragile peace is sure to break into a new war.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, recently predicted when the show would end, saying, "You don't want to run it into the ground. Me personally, I'd say let's go out on top. Let's go out still being the number one show in the world. Whether or not that happens, I don't know. I think if we just stuck with the comic book, we've still got another three years. We do deviate a lot, but I think there's probably a good three years of material there."
AMC's The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura. The series returns for Season 10 on Oct. 6.
