Ahead of its panel debut on Saturday at New York Comic Con, AMC has released the first photos from the upcoming third series in The Walking Dead Universe.

The photos reveal what appears to be the untitled series' young protagonists braving the post-apocalyptic world, as well as some brief glimpses of walkers.

While little is known about the series, it will feature two young female protagonists -- Iris and Huck. The series will follow "the first generation to come of age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever, grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad."

The series is created by The Walking Dead Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple and longtime The Walking Dead producer and writer, Matt Negrete, who will serve as the upcoming spinoff's showrunner for its ten-episode first season. The pilot of the episode will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (You’re the Worst, Kong: Skull Island). The still-untitled spinoff series will begin production on its first season this summer in Virginia and will premiere on AMC in spring 2020.
