The end is nigh -- AMC's The Walking Dead has officially wrapped on its series finale.The official The Walking Dead on AMC Twitter account shared a photo of a clapperboard with the message "That's a wrap!!!" written on it, as well as massive group shot of the show's crew. "11 seasons, 12 years, 177 episodes, 1 amazing fan base. Based on the Image Comics series of the same name written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, AMC's The Walking Dead premiered over a decade ago on Oct. 31, 2010. The show premiered its 11th and final season on Aug. 22, 2021. Season 11 is slated to run for a total of 24 episodes, bringing the show's overall episode count to 177. Thus far, Season 11 has aired 14 episodes, with episode 15, titled "Trust," set to air this coming Sunday, April 3.

The original Walking Dead comic book ran for a total of 193 issues from October 2003 to July 2019. The final season of the television adaptation adapts material from issues #175-193, such as the civilization known as the Commonwealth.

While AMC's The Walking Dead is coming to an end, the show has already spawned a number of spinoffs. Fear the Walking Dead premiered on Aug. 23, 2015. The show is currently in the midst of its seventh season and has already been renewed for an eighth. A two-season limited series titled The Walking Dead: World Beyond aired for 20 episodes from Oct. 4, 2020 to Dec. 5, 2021. AMC has greenlit an anthology spinoff titled Tales of the Walking Dead, the first season of which is slated to run for six episodes.

Additionally, a currently untitled spinoff series focusing on the characters of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) is expected to premiere after The Walking Dead concludes its 11th and final season. More recently, AMC greenlit a six-episode spinoff series titled Isle of the Dead, which will focus on the characters of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan). There are also plans for a trilogy of feature films focusing on Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).
