The Walking Dead returns to AMC in just two short months, and the network has been laying the promos for the upcoming season on thick.
The latest batch of production stills were originally released in Entertainment Weekly, but AMC has only now officially posted them online. In the images, we see fan-favorite characters like Glenn and Rick killing walkers in an array of creative ways, all without using a weapon.
We also are treated to images of Danai Gurira as Michonne and David Morrissey as The Governor. There’s nothing new here, but we’re going to keep eating up every new shot we see until The Walking Dead premieres.
The third season will follow Rick and the other survivors as they come across the West Georgia Correctional Facility — aka the Prison — and hope that it can be the safe haven from the undead that they’ve been hoping for. But things aren’t as they appear, as it turns out that a greater threat looms in the form of the leader of the nearby town of Woodbury, The Governor.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (the same issue that introduced these pictures), comic creator Robert Kirkman teased the direction that the new season is headed in.
“This season really is about setting up these two worlds and watching them come to a head and collide,” he said. “And you know that there are going to be some pretty explosive encounters between Rick and the Governor. This season is going to be about getting to know these two characters, and then waiting for their eventual confrontation that could destroy everything.”
The Walking Dead returns for its 16-episode third season on Oct. 14.
