When Negan Lives, the second Negan-centric comic in The Walking Dead universe came out in July this year, it sent fans all over the world into a tizzy. The letter hacks at the end of the comic hinted that a certain beloved character from the video game series was still alive. And that led to a deluge of comments all over social media about what it could possibly mean for the wider storyline of the franchise.

Beyond the shocking reveal of Clementine's well-being, there were plenty of details in Negan Lives that led to fans coming up with the most ingenious theories.

10 PERFECT: Clementine Will Go Solo

Clementine from Telltale The Walking Dead video game.

The most popular theory in reaction to the revelation that Clementine is alive— as stated at the end of Negan Lives is that everyone’s favorite teenager will probably get a comic of her own. Some think it’ll be a one-off and others think it’ll be a series focusing on the events that must have transpired after The Final Episode. And then there’s a third contingent that only wants a short cameo by her. One thing everyone agrees on is that she shouldn’t go through more heartbreak.

9 HILARIOUS: Negan Is Clementine’s Father

Lee comforting Clementine in Telltale Walking Dead game

Probably put forward in jest, there is, nevertheless, a tiny faction that wonders whether Negan is Clementine’s father. This theory is next to impossible, of course, since we know for sure that Clementine’s father is dead, and that his name is Ed. In fact, she comes across both her parents in their zombiefied forms while escaping the Marsh House with Lee.

And yet, if this theory somehow turns out to be true, there’ll be no bigger twist in The Walking Dead universe than this one.

8 PERFECT: Clementine And Judith Spin-off

Judith On The Walking Dead TV Show

Like Clementine, Judith has gone through a lot. Both are orphans, having lost their parents at a young age. And both are badass children, fighting against the odds in a world that is stacked against them. There are some very crucial differences as well, with Judith having been born into the apocalypse and Clementine having to learn her way through it as a child.

But still, the similarities are enough to make some people hope for a spin-off show just about the two of them.

7 HILARIOUS: Clementine Gets A Pirate Leg

Clementine Has Her Leg Amputated

In one of the last visuals we have of her, Clementine is seen at the boarding school with an amputated leg. The deed was performed by AJ, who cut her bitten leg with an axe.

But even though it saved her life, it also left her at a disadvantage if she would ever have to run away from the dead in the future. A few fans have come up with a goofy solution for this— a wooden pirate leg!

6 PERFECT: Clementine Is The Hooded Person

Mysterious Hooded Person On The Walking Dead

For fans of the show, it’s been a bit frustrating waiting to see who the new mysterious character is. Wearing a mask and a white hooded jacket, and carrying two distinctive and sharp weapons, the unidentified stranger remained anonymous at the end of the season 10 finale.

And now that there’s quite a bit of time till the new season, when viewers will finally be able to see behind the mask, there’s a lot of chatter as to who it could be. And Clementine’s name has popped up too.

5 HILARIOUS: Clementine Will Be Killed By Negan’s Bat

Negan With His Bat On The Walking Dead TV Show

This one is perhaps not hilarious, but a terrible, darkly comic turn of events if it were ever come to pass. But many believe that killing off such a much-loved character would be an outrageous thing to do. More so since her storyline was supposed to have concluded at the boarding school.

But what if, people wonder, she comes back only to be accidentally killed off by Negan’s weapon of choice, the very same Negan who has vowed not to kill women or children?

4 PERFECT: Lucy Stays With Negan

Comic Featuring Lucy's Introduction On Negan Lives

Introduced in Negan Lives, there’s a lot of speculation about what will happen to Lucy in the future. At the end of the very same comic, we see Negan invite her on his quest to find his wife’s bones, but we don’t see her reaction to it.

But what if she did? What if she traveled with him, found the remains and helped Negan in a cathartic moment? In issue 193 of the main TWD comic, Negan lays flowers on his wife’s tombstone, which makes one think that he was successful in his venture.

3 HILARIOUS: Negan Is Actually Insane

Negan Caught In Emotional Moment On The Walking Dead TV Show

It seems too much of a coincidence for the two new characters in Negan Lives to be called Lucy (similar to Negan’s dead wife, Lucille, and, of course, his bat) and Derick (similar to Rick Grimes), which makes a few readers wonder whether Negan isn’t hallucinating all this in his mind. Derick even looks a lot like Rick, which only fuels these comments.

So, is Negan actually going insane? Or is he having a mental breakdown? This theory seems to be both probable as well as a bit over the top.

2 PERFECT: Negan And Carl Spin-Off

Negan And Carl On The Walking Dead TV Show

As far as the future of the Negan comics go, some seem to think that getting Carl into the mix would be a good idea. Carl could find the time to tell Negan about Rick’s death— which itself would be an amazing moment— and the two could then bond over coming to terms with grief, and losing someone.

We already know how fond Negan is of Carl, and this would be the perfect way to hatch a redemptive arc for Negan and show his sympathetic side.

1 HILARIOUS: Kirkman Is Trolling

Letter That Proves Clementine Is Alive

What if Robert Kirkman, the creator of the comics, is trolling readers by assuring them that Clementine is alive? A few pointed out it could be a reference to Clementine’s plot armor memes, while others said it was a hook to make fans buy the comic and nothing else would come of it.

And so, some are wondering if all this hype will ever get anywhere? And if this possible joke by Kirkman might only lead to disgruntled fans upset by the absence of Clementine in his future work?
