Jeffrey Dean Morgan has shed light on when fans might see the Season 10 finale of The Walking Dead and described the delayed episode as a "mini-movie" for the Walking Dead universe.
Morgan hyped the upcoming finale and told EW, "We had fun filming it." The star then explained the finale's epic proportions: "I do not know when they’re going to finish it. I reckon four or five months from now we’ll get to see it. Which will be cool. It will be cool having a one-off, almost a Walking Dead movie in the middle of the season, I guess. So we’re excited about that aspect of it." When pushed on when AMC's zombie series could return for Season 11, Morgan joked that it's "such a f---ing mystery right now. It’s just a big question mark.”
As The Walking Dead headed toward an action-packed finale and the series regulars found themselves trapped in another deadly situation, Season 10's run of 16 episodes was cut down to just 15 due to the coronavirus. This means "A Certain Doom" has been pushed to an unspecified date. With a horde of Whisperers and walkers threatening to wipe out everyone trapped in the hospital, viewers have been warned there are some major deaths on the horizon.
Typically, The Walking Dead finales and midseason finales are filled with action and put the pieces in place for what comes next. There are plenty of plotlines to be resolved in the season finale, as well as the highly anticipated return of Cohen as Maggie Rhee. Kang had previously teased that "A Certain Doom" was close to being finished, but couldn't give any more information on its new release date.
Morgan didn't divulge what makes the Season 10 finale so epic, however, he teased a showdown between Negan and Ryan Hurst's Beta. The 54-year-old said that the fact The Walking Dead legend Greg Nicotero directed "A Certain Doom" means there will probably be a big battle sequence.
