Zombies and Death were the name of the game in October -- and not just due to Halloween. Diamond's sales charts for October 2014 had "The Walking Dead" #132 as the #1 bestselling comic for the month, while "Death of Wolverine" #4 led the way for Marvel in the second spot. In fact, "Death of Wolverine" is partially what helped Marvel take back the top publisher spot -- Marvel had seven of the top ten bestselling comic books of October, including "Death of Wolverine" #4, "Thor" #1, "Death of Wolverine" #3, "Avengers and X-Men: AXIS" #1, "Amazing Spider-Man" #7, "Amazing Spider-Man" #8 and "Avengers and X-Men: AXIS" #2.

DC Comics rounded out the top ten with "Batman" #35 in sixth and "Harley Quinn Annual" #1 at ninth, continuing "Harley Quinn's" strong showing in the top ten monthly comics.

While "The Walking Dead" may have topped sales for single issues, it was surprisingly absent from the top ten graphic novels and trade paperbacks, though Image Comics did have two trades make the list: "East of West" Volume 3 TP at fourth and "Southern Bastards" Volume 1 TP at sixth. Marvel topped the list of trades with "Ms. Marvel" Volume 1 TP and "Hawkeye" Volume 3 TP in first and second, respectively with "Amazing Spider-Man" Volume 1 TP and "Moon Knight" Volume 1 TP bringing up the rear at eighth and ninth. DC also had four trades on the list: "Batman" Volume 4 TP at third, "Batman" Volume 5 HC at fifth, "Harley Quinn" Volume 1 HC at seventh and the "Batman: Death of the Family" book and mask set in tenth.
