The Variants look to kickstart season three

The Variants, the humorous web series set at Zeus Comics in Dallas, is looking to fund their third season and have turned to Kickstarter to raise $8,000 for a six-episode season.

"We've done as much as we can out of pocket," said series co-creator and writer Ken Lowery in a press release. "But to move forward and give this show the production values it needs, we're going to need a little help." Lowery and his crew are offering numerous rewards for contributing to the site, including DVDs, T-shirts, artwork and even a walk-on role during season three. If they raise more than the $8,000 they're asking for, they plan to expand the number of episodes for the season.

The Kickstarter page also notes the addition of two new cast members, Curt Franklin and Chris Haley, of Let's Be Friends Again fame. The duo appeared in the last episode of season two as a wealthy investor and his attorney looking to expand Zeus into a national franchise.
