WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Umbrella Academy Season 2, streaming now on Netflix.

One of The Umbrella Academy's the largest deviations from the comics is the presence of Ben Hargreeves, played by Justin H. Min. In the comics, Ben had died due to a mysterious event and was barely referenced, while in the show, he is a ghostly presence that often hangs around his spirit-summoning brother Klaus, played by Robert Sheehan.

During an interview with TVLine, Min briefly discussed where a potential Season 3 might take his character. "He's not a ghost, I can tell you that. He's alive." The actor continued, "[Because] one of the biggest things we really wanted to do was create as much of a contrast from Ghost Ben to Sparrow Academy Ben as possible."

The final moments of the Season 2 finale "The End of Something" saw the Hargreeves siblings landing in an alternate future where Ben is alive and Number One of the Sparrow Academy, led by their deceased father Reginald Hargreeves. Min emphasized that the contrast between the two, "In Season 3, he would be quite different, in terms of not only his appearance, but even in terms of personality and character, from the Ben that we know."

The Umbrella Academy stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min, with Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood, Marin Ireland, Jordan Claire Robbins, Kate Walsh and Colm Feore. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix.
