You Look Like Death: Tales from the Umbrella Academy has unveiled some of the dramatic actions of a young Klaus. The Umbrella Academy prequel series has shown how Sir Reginald Hargreeves kicked him out and why the siblings couldn't stand his unreliable nature, as well as new powers we didn't know about.

And now in You Look Like Death #3, Klaus's continued efforts to push his godlike abilities have lead to monstrous consequences that could tear Los Angeles apart.

Klaus has been staying with a struggling actress, Viv, in Hollywood. She's used his gift to channel spirits from the past and throw them into people to help her get new roles. While she's just harnessing the talents of Hollywood's deceased, Klaus is perfectly happy to let her since he's ensconced in her mansion with excess booze and drugs, meaning it's a dream vacation for Klaus.

However, Klaus' antics have gotten him into trouble, with the vampire chimp, the Shivers, sending agents to Viv's house to take Klaus out. Klaus screwed over the vamp in a drug deal, and the Shivers wants revenge. However, the goons find Viv when they enter the mansion instead. With Klaus in the basement getting drunk, she turns into a giant black spider and kills the invaders. It's a very scary moment that's reminiscent of Pennywise's true form from Stephen King's It. But what's even more worrying is Viv has no idea what possessed and transformed her into this hybrid creature.

Now, this spells trouble for a few reasons. Firstly, there's a chance that Klaus could have gotten her possessed by a movie star who had abilities of their own. If this spirit left a demonic imprint on Viv, Klaus could be unknowingly creating an army of monsters with his power if he keeps throwing infected ghosts around. Secondly, we know Klaus can bring tangible objects back from the afterlife, as seen with a dead actor's hat, so he could be bringing these monsters back in their true form from the dead.

It's a horrific notion, but the upside to it is that he may also be able to bring people back and change them from spirits into something real. This seems to be why Reginald was putting him through a harsh training regime, although those plans never came to fruition. While the later volumes don't suggest Klaus ever fully honed his powers like this, this prequel clearly shows he's way more powerful than we thought. Still, it's not clear who this spider is or if there are more beasts out there like it, but what's clear is Klaus will have some serious cleaning up to do.
