Well, I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later — Ian Somerhalder already has his teeth in a vampire franchise in the form of The Vampire Diaries, and now his on-screen Lost sister Maggie Grace is following suit with a role in the final Twilight films.
According to Deadline, Grace will star in director Bill Condon’s two-part Breaking Dawn as Irina, a member of the Denali coven and one of few “vegetarian” vampires. When Irina blames the Cullen clan for the death of her lover, she sets her sights on Bella (Kristen Stewart) and puts a terrible chain of events into motion.
I’m not a big fan of the Twilight series — I saw the first, fell asleep during the second and didn’t bother with the third, though I hear it’s the best one — so I can’t claim any authority over the franchise. Is this a solid role for Grace, the actress who played the misunderstood socialite Shannon Rutherford for a season and a half of Lost? No clue. Personally, I’d rather see the actress taking on other projects in the vein of Luc Besson’s Taken and Lockout, but whatever pays the bills, I suppose.
