Chris Pratt, star of the upcoming sci-fi thriller The Tomorrow War, is full of appreciation for the artists who worked on the film and wants to share their work with his fans.

On Instagram, he posted a video panning over a wall of sketches, many of which include renderings of his own face. His character is shown in emotional embraces with his family and then positioned with a military unit in battle gear.

Pratt's caption accompanying the video is full of praise for the artists who created the concept art. "One of the biggest thrills of film production is seeing concept art work in various forms..." he wrote. "I respect the hell out of free hand artists. So to see my face drawn on images such as the ones above is really surreal. Mad respect to the artists out there."

He also talked about how much he loved drawing and doodling as a kid, and how he hopes that parents are encouraging their children's artistic pursuits. "Pencils and paper are cheap," he noted. "Art is an amazing way to build confidence. This Christmas get your kid a pencil and sketch pad."

Pratt is well known for his roles in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Jurassic World and its sequels, both of which are of the science fiction genre, but were built onto already successful franchises. In contrast, The Tomorrow War is an original story, and for audiences, Pratt may be the most familiar thing about it. That said, if successful, The Tomorrow War, formerly titled Ghost Draft, has the potential to become a new tentpole franchise of its own.

Directed by Chris McKay, The Tomorrow War stars Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, J.K. Simmons and Mary Lynn Rajskub. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 25, 2020.
