The fourth season of The Flash is set to introduce its first major non-speedster villain, Clifford DeVoe -- otherwise known as the Thinker.

Following Thawne, Zoom and Savitar, DeVoe will be added to the show's growing list of big baddies, TVLine reports. The news may not come as a shock for those paying attention to the final episodes of season three, in which DeVoe's name was mentioned on multiple occasions.

DeVoe was first teased by Abra Kadabara, a villain from the future with knowledge of the Scarlet Speedster's future encounters. He was once again brought up in the season finale when Savitar said a "cerebral inhibitor" would be significant in taking down the unmet foe.

The Thinker made his debut in All-Star Flash #12 as a lawyer turned crime boss. He uses a device called the Thinking Cap, which can project mental force and occasionally control other technology.

In addition, DeVoe's role as a major villain falls in line with what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed back in March.

“Next season we’re not going to have a speedster [as the villain],” Kreisberg said during a panel at Paleyfest.
