Gunn's The Suicide Squad Eyes Doctor Who's Capaldi, SNL's Davidson

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is reportedly adding Doctor Who alum Peter Capaldi, as well as Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson.

No details are available regarding either role. However, according to Deadline, Davidson's participation is said to be a small cameo that he'll shoot during breaks from SNL.

In addition to the returning cast members from 2016's Suicide Squad, Gunn's soft reboot of has also added Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika WaititiPitch Perfect 2's Flula Borg, A Wrinkle in Time's Storm Reid and Firefly's Nathan Fillion in similarly mysterious roles. Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Steve Agee has signed on to voice King Shark.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters Aug. 6, 2021. Several cast members from 2016's Suicide Squad are expected to reprise their roles, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Also joining the cast are Idris Elba, David Dasmalchian and Daniela Melchior.
