Actor Nathan Fillion's backstage ballet in his blue motion-capture suit shows exactly where his The Suicide Squad character TDK's limbs detach.Writer/director James Gunn posted a video of the "Impromptu dance recital" on his Twitter. The footage appears to be from a rehearsal for the opening scenes in the film where The Detachable Kid, played by Fillion, meets his abrupt and brutal end on the shores of Corto Maltese. In a follow-up tweet to the post, Gunn said, "He would be a real asshole if he called himself [The Detachable Kid] & only had detachable arms." This is an allusion to Fillion's motion-capture suit covering his lower half as well, despite viewers never actually seeing his legs detach in the film.RELATED: The Suicide Squad's Alternate Ending Was Too Dark for James Gunn

Gunn revealed that TDK's legs are also detachable in The Suicide Squad: In on the Action featurette on HBO Max, though it is never seen in the final cut of the movie. "TDK is just a guy whose arms and legs come off. That's his only power," Gunn said in the featurette.

Fillion previously described how he and Gunn created the character for the screen, saying, "My participation in the invention of the character kind of went like this. James saying, 'Here's how it's going to go.' And me saying, 'That sounds good.' That's what I call dissipation...I take a lot of credit. It's all about the function of the character in the story. What is his function in the story? And TDK's abilities, for me, clearly spelled out his function and I got it. I know exactly what you need. I know what you're looking for. I know what you want. Boom. Let's do this. I get it."

Gunn is known for dropping never-before-seen footage from his films on social media, recently sharing a clip of Peter Capaldi's screen test for The Thinker, where the actor first donned an early prototype of the supervillain's signature wires and nodes. Gunn also shared an early clip of his brother Sean Gunn developing his performance as Weasel. On top of that, the director also revealed on Twitter what he said was the most difficult scene in The Suicide Squad to film, which ended up being one of the calmer moments in the movie, with Task Force X following Bloodsport into battle against Starro.

"That shot was the most pain-in-the-ass shot to get in all of #TheSuicideSquad," Gunn said at the time. "Pulling back a cart on bumpy terrain with a camera on a slider. We did it like 35 times and I still wasn't happy with it but we had a huge day of shooting so I just had to give up."

The Suicide Squad is currently available on digital platforms and will be released on home media Oct. 26.
