The Suicide Squad: Nathan Fillion's TDK Is Armless and Dangerous in New Clip

A new clip from The Suicide Squad shows off the strange abilities of new Task Force X recruit The Detachable Kid, portrayed by Nathan Fillion.

A new clip from The Suicide Squad showcases the strange powers of one of the team's newest recruits: TDK, played by Nathan Fillion.

The clip, posted on YouTube, sees the Squad pinned down by enemy fire on a beach. When he sees an opening, Colonel Flag (Joel Kinnaman) dispatches TDK to handle it, revealing his full name as "The Detachable Kid." TDK then provides cover for his teammates by disconnecting his arms from his body and having them slap around the enemy soldiers like Moe Howard, much to the confusion and disgust of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Savant (Michael Rooker).

With teammates like Polka-Dot Man, Weasel and King Shark, TDK may not even be the weirdest character in The Suicide Squad. Despite that, writer/director James Gunn said he received total freedom from Warner Bros. to make the movie as wild as he wanted. "I wanted it to be its own thing completely," he said in an interview. "When Warner Bros. said they wanted me to do this, I watched the first movie for the first time, and I called them back and said, 'what do I have to keep from this movie?' And they said, nothing." He added, "They said, listen, we would love it if Margot's in the movie but she doesn't have to be. You could come up with all new characters or you could keep all the same characters."

The Suicide Squad will release in theaters and streaming on HBO Max on August 6. A spinoff series, Peacemaker, is expected to air on HBO Max in January 2022.
