After casually revealing the entire cast for the upcoming The Suicide Squad, director James Gunn has provided more details on when fans can expect to find out which roles the new additions to the star-studded cast will be portraying.

Responding to a question on Twitter, Gunn said, "Some characters will get out. Some already have (although some reported on, including from reputable sources, have been very wrong). But, in all honesty, I don’t know if we’ll officially release character info for a long long while to come."

There have been plenty of reports over the last several months regarding The Suicide Squad. Gunn does admit some of those reports are accurate, while also stating some of the reports from reputable sources are inaccurate. Nevertheless, we shouldn't get our hopes up on getting official character details anytime soon.

Yesterday Gunn released the complete cast in a social media post, which includes the following names, in no particular order: David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie and Michael Rooker.

The director's post also included a dire warning, letting fans know not to get too attached to any of their favorite actors. With a team named the "Suicide Squad," the likelihood of every character surviving the film remains slim.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters Aug. 6, 2021. Several cast members from 2016's Suicide Squad will reprise their roles, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Also joining the cast are David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Idris Elba and Michael Rooker.
