After debuting in the DC Extended Universe in David Ayer's 2016 film Suicide Squad, Task Force X is set to return to the big screen under the guidance of writer/director James Gunn.
Warner Bros. brought Gunn on board to deliver a soft reboot of the franchise in 2019. Now, the director has revealed that outside of The Suicide Squad, he also has two other ideas for DC movies -- and we may find out what they are.
Gunn held a Q&A on his Instagram account. When asked by a fan if he had a second choice other than The Suicide Squad, the director answered with a simple, "Yes."
Then, as a follow-up, a fan asked what the second choice was. "I had two," Gunn answered. "Maybe you'll find out some day (but not today)."
Another fan asked Gunn if he knew what other DC movies were in development. He replied that he knew about some of them.
It was recently reported that when James Gunn was initially in talks with Warner Bros., the studio was prepared to offer him any property of his choosing. Gunn even had the option to helm a Superman film, but he instead chose Suicide Squad given his affinity for the franchise. "I chose the Suicide Squad as its one of my favorite properties in the world," he said at the time.
After The Suicide Squad, Gunn is already slated to shoot Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios. The writer/director has confirmed the script for the threequel is ready, although when the movie will begin shooting hasn't been revealed just yet.

The film arrives in theaters Aug. 6, 2021.
