Here comes The General.

According to Forbes, Guardians of the Galaxy star Benicio del Toro is in talks to reunite with writer-director James Gunn for Warner Bros.' The Suicide Squad. He is reportedly circling a villainous role known as The General. At the time of writing, it is unclear if "The General" will go by that name when he appears in the film.

The Suicide Squad is being called a reboot of 2016's Suicide Squad, though it will feature many of the original cast members, including Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis. David Dastmalchian has also been confirmed as Polka-Dot Man, with Daniela Melchior playing Ratcatcher. John Cena is reportedly involved as well. Additionally, Idris Elba will reportedly play Bronze Tiger.

Del Toro is no stranger to genre fiction. He appeared as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War as well as in the Disneyland attraction Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout. He also starred as DJ in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. His previous credits include The Usual Suspects, Sicario, Sin City and The Wolfman.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters August 6, 2021.
