Alex Ross has shared art from an unprinted concept, featuring DC Comics' heroes meeting the characters of the Star Wars universe.

Ross posted the image, an homage to the original Star Wars poster, to Instagram. It features the members of the Rebel Alliance standing side-by-side with DC's trinity: Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. In the background, Darth Vader and Darkseid loom large. Another background feature sees what appears to be either Hawkman or Hawkgirl and Green Lantern Hal Jordan flying alongside a fleet of X-Wing fighters. Perhaps the most perplexing mixup features R2-D2 and C-3PO with the Flash, who is seen fleeing the blaster fire of stormtroopers.

This is not the first time Ross has drawn the Star Wars and DC universes colliding. One of his more famous images features Superman grabbing Darth Vader's lightsaber, while another features Batman engaged in an aerial duel with bounty hunter Boba Fett. Ross recently posted an image from his sketchbook of unreleased art that features Superman standing side by side with Luke Skywalker.

Ross is well known for his lifelike paintings, particularly the limited series Marvels for Marvel and Kingdom Come for DC. He has also done cover art for several comic series and art for films including Spider-Man 2 and Unbreakable.
