Many of The Sims' characters have interesting backgrounds explaining their goals, history, and achievement. However, sometimes not everything is what it seems. Bella Goth's disappearance between The Sims and The Sims 2 is one that has intrigued fans for over a decade. The mystery is full of lust, betrayal and even science fiction. While Maxis hasn't confirmed what really happened to Bella Goth, loyal Sim fans have put together a few theories.

Bella Goth is one of the most iconic Sims characters, having been in nearly all major Sims titles. While her family is featured in The Sims 2, she is strangely absent. The weird thing is her character icon isn't gray in the family tree tab, implying she's still alive. Even stranger, the Goth family still has memories of her, making people think she hasn't been missing for very long.

If players look into Bella's backstory in The Sims 2, they will find that she was last seen at Don Lothario's house in Pleasantview. Mr. Lothario is Pleasantview's local womanizer, who has multiple relationships all over town and is engaged to Bella's daughter Cassandra. Legend has it that Bella went to Don's house to welcome him to Pleasantview. As the night progressed, Don started hitting on Bella and making things very uncomfortable. Bella shot down Don's advances making him very angry. Later that night, Bella mysteriously disappears.

Most people would assume Don ended up killing Bella in a fit of rage after she declined him. However, the story is much more complicated than that. It turns out that Don is also in a relationship with Nina and Dina Caliente, who moved to Pleasantview right before Bella's disappearance. Don prefers Nina Caliente, while Dina wishes to marry Bella's husband, Mortimer Goth. At the same time, Don doesn't want anyone to find out that he attempted to seduce Bella since he is engaged to her daughter. This is where the legend takes a strange turn.

It turns out that the Caliente sister's grandfather, Nestor, was abducted by aliens, which somehow lead to him having an affair with one of his capturers' named Pollination Technician 7. Nestor and Pollination end up having a child named Flamenco, who turns out to be Nina and Dina Caliente's father. This makes the Caliente sisters part alien. Since Dina wants to marry Mortimer Goth and Don Lothario doesn't want Bella to tell anyone he made sexual advances on her, many Sims fans believe they teamed up to get rid of Bella Goth.

Rumor has it that Don decided to call the Caliente sisters after Bella denied him. He wanted them to use their alien connections to help him get rid of Bella without leaving any signs of foul play. The Caliente sisters saw how her disappearance could help them in the long run since Dina wanted to marry Mortimer and Nina could have Don to herself. The sisters agreed and convinced their alien relatives to kidnap Bella once Don takes her to his roof. The aliens do so, leaving no signs of Bella or clues about her disappearance.

The details differ between Sim fans, but many agree that extraterrestrials abducted Bella. The theory works since the Goth family does have vague memories of Bella being abducted by aliens. Alien abductions are not unheard of in The Sims 2. The city of Strangetown even has a UFO crash landing site in it. Bella is even featured on Strangetown's cover art within the game. Many people believe that Bella's alien abductors crashed in Strangetown, allowing her to escape. The PSP version of The Sims 2 backs up the claim with Bella stating that she is hiding from aliens in Strangetown.

While this sounds like the most logical explanation of Bella's experience, The Sims 3 added another bizarre layer to the mystery. There is a downloadable alien city called Lunar Lakes for The Sims 3 that has a gravesite for Bella Goth. Her ghost is known to appear around town, leading many fans to believe that her alien kidnappers took her to Lunar Lakes, where she resided until passing away of old age. This is debatable since the ghost doesn't share many of the same traits with Bella Goth. That being said, it is possible that the aliens genetically altered her appearance so people wouldn't recognize the captured woman. It is unknown if Bella spent her last days in Lunar Lakes or if it is a hoax thought up by her extraterrestrial capturers to throw investigators off her trail.

The mystery of Bella Goth's disappearance is one that has enthused Sims fans for quite some time. This is just one of the many theories fans have come up after years of investigation. There are many more, but the alien abduction theory is the most logical and agreed upon within The Sims community. The truth behind Bella Goth's mysterious disappearance may never be solved, but the legend surrounding the unusual event will live on for many years to come.
