They pass through several videos, including one which depicts an unknown world with an island by some water and the full moon above it. The apparent howling in the distance grabbed fans' attention -- enough to convince many that this means a werewolf life state is finally coming to The Sims 4.RELATED: Why The Sims 4: My Wedding Stories Has Fans Abandoning the Game

Fans of The Sims 4 have been begging developer Maxis to add a werewolf life state to the game for years. In prior generations of the game, The Sims has added the alternate life states as part of one or a few different expansion packs, giving players not just the new type of Sim but also extensive additions to the game. Since The Sims 4 released in 2014, the game has instead released different life states slowly, focusing on releasing more game packs and stuff kits instead of true expansions.

This spacing out of content led some fans to react to the werewolf news tepidly. Some felt they should have included all the different life states in one expansion rather than space them out and force players to "overpay" to get each. Others pointed out how bug-riddled the last release, My Wedding Stories, was and expressed doubt the new content would be any better. Given that a werewolf life state has been teased before, other fans felt it likely the teaser points to something entirely different, meaning fans are in for disappointment when the new content drops in the next few months.

Since its release, The Sims 4 has often been considered a shallower offering compared to its predecessor, and many game packs have since endeavored to add functions which The Sims 3 possessed from the start. Some of these, such as Story Progression, were only added as of December last year in The Sims 4 Neighborhood Stories. Other features, such as werewolves, greater customization of neighborhoods and furniture and the variety of pet options found in The Sims 3 remain absent almost eight years since The Sims 4 was released.

The Sims 4 will release the as-yet-unnamed game pack and two kits sometime in May and June. The game and its assorted expansions are available to play now on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
