Electronic Arts is buckling down on offensive content uploaded to The Sims 4 Gallery.

In an official statement on EA's website, the video game studio discussed the recent publication of NSFW posts in The Sims 4 Gallery. "Our team has reviewed, and made critical updates to, the profanity filter to help prevent this from happening again in the future," the statement read. EA encouraged its players to further flag any future instances of inappropriate content and promised to ban repeat offenders, in addition to regularly making adjustments to the profanity filter when needed.

The Sims 4 Has Other Known Issues

Since mid-October, The Sims 4 players have noticed their characters becoming overly aggressive with one another. "They are a family that are all good friends, no mischief traits or skills, no previous issues whatsoever. I've never had a sim insult anyone autonomously, and now it happens several times per minute of play," one player wrote. The reason for their erratic behavior comes from an Oct. 11 patch, which caused Sims to hardly insult others, despite possessing the 'Good' and 'Friendly' traits.

On Nov. 16, The Sims Direct announced an update to resolve the conflict through a "tuning fix to cool down the extra negativity taking place between Sims." Before the update, mods from MC Command Centre created an option for players to avoid the rude glitch, but some players aren't keen on downloading modifications to their games. Apart from the glitch alteration, previous Sims mods include NRaas's Saver, which acts as an auto-save feature for The Sims 3.

Following the awaited change to Sims' harsh demeanor, some players asked about the status of the identical toddlers bug. "We are still working on the same-face toddlers, but we will continue to work on keeping you posted with updates," a post from the official The Sims forum read. The odd glitch is similar but milder than the July 2022 bug, which caused rapid aging and incest between family members.

Players Remain Loyal Despite Glitches

Despite its many glitches over the years, The Sims 4 remains a popular game eight years after its initial release date. In October 2022, EA made the 2014 title free-to-play, alongside the announcement of the next major Sims installment. The Sims 5, under the codename Project Rene, debuted at 2022's Behind The Sims Summit. Days after the upcoming title began its play testing period, an anonymous hacker generated playtester Devuno tokens to gain access to The Sims 5 and shared the gameplay on Peer 2 Peer servers without EA's permission.

The Sims 4 Base Game is now free to play on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Project Rene currently has no official release window.
