Fans of The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob's Burgers can breathe easier knowing Disney has just renewed each series for two more seasons.

According to Deadline, the animation staples are safe through 2024-25. "With this trio of renewals, we celebrate excellence in animation on Fox, our wonderful, long-time partnership with 20th Television and the brilliant creators and incredible voices behind these forever favorites," said Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming for Fox Entertainment. "Three-plus decades of The Simpsons, more than two decades of Family Guy and over a decade of Bob's Burgers proves the enduring power of the animation genre on our network and the infinite fan affinity for these outrageously funny comedy classics."

Disney's renewal guarantees Seasons 35 and 36 of The Simpsons -- extending its record as the longest-running scripted series in television history -- Seasons 22 and 23 of Family Guy and Seasons 14 and 15 of Bob's Burgers. This news comes on the heels of Hulu, a subsidiary of Disney, severing ties with Solar Opposites and Koala Man co-creator Justin Roiland following charges of domestic abuse and false imprisonment. Like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob's Burgers, Solar Opposites and Koala Man are both 20th Television productions. Hulu renewed Solar Opposites for a fifth season in October 2022, while Koala Man is still awaiting a Season 2 pickup. Roiland was also dropped from Adult Swim's Rick and Morty, on which he served as showrunner as well as voicing the title characters.

Adult Animation Goes Theatrical

In addition to its renewal, Bob's Burgers recently received the big screen treatment with the aptly-titled The Bob's Burgers Movie. Released in May 2022 following several production delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the film earned just $32.4 million against a $38 million budget. Despite its disappointing box office returns, the Belcher's trip to theaters was well-received by critics and audiences alike. The film currently has a Certified Fresh critic rating of 88% and a nearly identical audience rating of 89%.

The Simpsons went theatrical in 2007, enjoying a similar critical response to Bob's Burgers. The also aptly-titled The Simpsons Movie holds a Certified Fresh critic score of 87% and a strong 77% audience score. The film was a much bigger box office success, pulling in $536.4 million against a $75 million budget.

Family Guy has yet to hit movie screens, though there has been talk of taking the Griffin clan theatrical for more than a decade. "At some point, I hope to make a Family Guy movie," series creator and star Seth MacFarlane said in 2007 following the success of The Simpsons Movie. "The trick is to find a way to do it and the series at the same time." In 2019, MacFarlane gave an update on the status of a Family Guy movie. "We've been talking about this for ten years. The Family Guy movie is still on my To-Do list... I have a pretty clear sense of what it's going to be. I have for some time. But I just haven't gotten around to it."

In the meantime, fans can watch The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob's Burgers on Disney+.
