Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have released a second, holiday-themed teaser trailer for the animated comedy "The Secret Life of Pets."

While the teaser catalogs the many ways Christmas pet portraits can go wrong, the film itself offers a look at what our cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs do once we leave for work or school.

Directed by Chris Renaud (“Despicable Me,” “Despicable Me 2″) and Yarrow Cheney, the film is set in a Manhattan apartment building, where Max’s life his turned upside down when his owner bring home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. However, they must set their quarrel side once they discover an adorable white bunny named Snowball is assembling an army of abandoned pets determined to take revenge against all those with homes, and their owners.

Based on a script by Brian Lynch, Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, “The Secret Life of Pets” stars Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Steve Coogan, Ellie Kemper, Bobby Moynihan, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey,  Hannibal Buress, Jenny Slate and Albert Brooks. The film opens next summer.
