Reader Matthew R. suggested Cameron Stewart's web comic, Sin Titulo. The comic features, as Matthew describes it, "very unnerving David Lynchian stuff going on in there."

Obviously, before we even get into the story, we all already know that Cameron Stewart is an excellent sequential artist. He has proven it time and time again on various titles for Marvel and DC Comics. Perhaps most notably being his work with Grant Morrison, like Seaguy.
So you know the art in this series will be good. The story, though, is very well handled.
It begins with a man who becomes obsessed with a mysterious woman he sees in a photo with his grandfather when he goes to visit his grandfather (who turns out to be dead.)
Stewart uses slow burns to great effect within this comic. He slowly reveals information, ramping up the drama as he does.
Our hero ends up in a strange room with a strange video monitor with the mysterious woman who speaks to him...
After he finishes with the memory, things get bad for him...
They eventually dump him, Prisoner-style and his girlfriend is forced to go get him (she also had to explain his absence from work)...
When he returns to work, his girlfriend calls in an excellent sequence of terror...
This takes us through the first 40 pages or so. The book is up to its 115th page!
