The Santa Clauses will return for another season on Disney+.

According to Deadline, Disney has given the Santa Clause fandom an early Christmas present: a second season of the legacy sequel series, The Santa Clauses. The renewal comes the same day the final episode of the show's now-first season dropped on Disney+. "This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions," said Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis. "Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season."

Allen first appeared as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus in 1994's The Santa Clause and returned for two sequels, which were released in 2004 and 2006. In The Santa Clauses, Scott Calvin has been Santa Claus for nearly thirty years, "and he’s as jolly as ever," reads the Season 1 synopsis. "But as Christmas declines in popularity, so does his Santa magic. Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband."

The Santa Clauses Is Another Successful Legacy Series on Disney+

Since launching in 2019, Disney+ has found success with developing new series around older legacy titles like The Santa Clause films. Other legacy series that have been embraced by new and old fans include The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Monsters at Work, with National Treasure: Edge of History and Willow joining The Santa Clauses as the latest Disney+ series to be based on legacy franchises.

Eric Lloyd and David Krumholtz also reprised their roles from the film trilogy as Charlie Calvin and Bernard the Elf, respectively, for guest appearances.

The first season of The Santa Clauses is available to stream in its entirety on Disney+. A release window for Season 2 has not been announced by the streaming service at this time.
