The Sandman star Jenna Coleman revealed she has yet to watch herself on the critically-acclaimed Netflix series.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Coleman shared she has been unable to watch how she brought the role of Johanna Constantine to life because of her latest part in the upcoming Prime Video series, Wilderness. "I haven’t seen [The Sandman] yet!" she said. "Wilderness has been one of those shows that’s so intense that I haven’t actually been able to watch anything for ages. It’s been mad hours and lots of traveling. But everyone else seems to love it!"

Coleman is aware of the positive responses to The Sandman has garnered from audiences and critics alike, however, particularly in relation to the occult detective. Part of the reason why Coleman is so happy about how well the show has been received is due to how hard it was to translate Neil Gaiman's original comic book series to the screen.

"I’m so thrilled," she said. "It was obviously one of those shows that’s so difficult to adapt and that’s why it’s been 30 years in the making. I managed to get over to Comic-Con and hung out with Neil and everyone there and see the trailer for the first time, so to see the whole Gaim-ian imagination and see his world depicted cinematically, it’s been really thrilling. And I feel like it’s had a great reaction amongst the fans as well as the critics."

The Sandman's Uncertain Season 2 Fate

Despite the praise the series has received, it has yet to be confirmed whether The Sandman will return for Season 2. Coleman, unfortunately, did not have any new information on this front, although not all hope is lost. "I know that talks are going ahead at the moment, but I’ve been pretty off-grid in the Arizona desert [filming Wilderness]," she said. However, Gaiman thinks that Netflix's delay in confirming the show's renewal could be due to audiences taking on a more spread-out approach when watching it.

Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Sandman centers around the King of Dreams Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) as he makes a nail-biting escape from his century-long imprisonment and begins a journey to restore his kingdom, the Dreaming. Other characters featured in The Sandman alongside Coleman's Constantine Sturridge's Morpheus include Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), Lucifer Morningstar (Gwendoline Christie), Lucienne (Vivienne Acheampong), the Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook), John Dee (David Thewlis) and more.

The first season of The Sandman is available to stream on Netflix.
