Official Press Release

Runnemede, NJ – Dynamite Entertainment proudly announced today that they are including a third cover on the upcoming Red Sonja #12 – the issue which features the return of Kulan Gath as Sonja's GREATEST nemesis.

In addition to the previously announced Jim Lee and George Perez covers, a third cover will be available in equal ration, featuring the pairing of John Romita Jr. and John Romita Sr. in homage to John Romita, Jr.'s classic cover depicting Kulan Gath on Uncanny X-Men #190. The piece, penciled by Jr., inked by Sr., and colored by Brian Buccaelleto, now features Gath and Red Sonja in the famous pose.

"We were very fortunate – and are very thankful – that Marvel allowed John to work with us for this very special cover. We're very fortunate that John Jr.'s able to do two covers for us, this being the first," commented Dynamite Spokesperson J. Allen, "We've been working on this one for a LOOOONNNNGGGGG time and are very, very pleased at the end result. We were hoping to announce this with Jim and George's cover, but wanted to make sure John Jr. could fit it in with his busy schedule and ensure it was in hand before announcing. John Romita Jr. is truly one of the most talented artists in the business, and his legacy in the industry is just being felt. I can't say enough, so I won't say much more. We're fortunate and proud to offer this to the retailers and fans! John Romita Jr. added to this cover was a dream come true, and having John Romita Sr. ink him is truly "Dynamite!"

As mentioned, Dynamite is shipping John Romita Jr's cover as additional variant cover, in addition to the masterpieces done by Lee and Perez, and all three will ship in equal ratio. Dynamite reminds fans and retailers that issue #12 begins an exciting new story arc, and is a perfect jumping on point for fans, as well as the celebration of Sonja's first year back!
