Dwayne Johnson and the stars of Paramount Pictures' "Baywatch" remake will see their film move back a week from its original release date of May 19 to May 26, 2017, which lands on the Memorial Day weekend.

Variety reports the move will pit the action-comedy against Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales," the fifth film in the Johnny Depp franchise, and Sony's sci-fi flick "Life" starring Rebecca Ferguson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

No reason for the move is given, though other movies slated for a May 19 release are Ridley Scott’s "Alien: Convenant," "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul," New Line’s "Annabelle 2," and Open Road’s "Nut Job 2."

Plot details are scarce at the moment, but latest draft of the script was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. "Baywatch" is being produced by Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions alongside his partner Dany Garcia.

Directed by Seth Gordon, "Baywatch" stars Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Jon Bass, Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
