Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made a bold statement about how his DC Extended Universe antihero Black Adam would fare in a battle with Superman. After the first Black Adam footage premiered at DC FanDome, someone noted that perhaps the only person who'd be able to stop him is Superman. "Remember, Superman’s greatest weakness isn’t kryptonite, it’s magic," The Rock tweeted. "Black Adam’s greatest superpower is magic. They both fly at light speed. They both are unstoppable forces. But only one will kill the other. And we know who that is."RELATED: Leaked Black Adam Set Photo Reveals Comics-Accurate Hawkman

Superman's history with magic has varied in the 80+ years since the character's DC debut, but in most incarnations, it's not that he's actually "weak" against magic -- it's that he's simply not invulnerable to it like he is against nearly everything else.

Semantics aside, this isn't the first time a collision course between Black Adam and Superman has been teased for the DCEU. In 2017, shortly after Black Adam was officially announced by Warner Bros., Johnson said, "One fine day… that’s coming. That’s in the cards." Man of Steel star Henry Cavill also added fuel to the fire the following year before swiftly walking it back.

Johnson's comments follow the release of the first Black Adam footage, which sees a group of archaeologists exploring a cave. After a bolt of lightning blows them back, they see Black Adam standing before them in a hooded cloak. He grabs one of them by the throat and turns him to dust before the rest start firing shots, but Black Adam catches a bullet and then begins to levitate as more bullets bounce off his chest.

"I'm thrilled for what we have created and the vision that [director] Jaume Collet-Serra has for the film is exceptional," Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia recently said. "There were a lot of aspects to this film that were important to us, from big dramatic storylines that we wanted to explore to make sure we were properly representing an antihero of Black Adam's caliber to the visual effects and displaying Black Adam's powers in a way that we think the fans will love."

Black Adam arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
