MTV News recently spoke with the multi-franchised megastar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson at the world premiere of "The Fate of the Furious," in a conversation that explored one of his most exciting role-to-be: Black Adam, as part of the DCEU.
"We've had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they're world-building," Johnson said. "We're seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line."
It was announced January that Black Adam will star in his own feature before playing the antagonist in DC's future "Shazam" film. "So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie. We're building our world that way," Johnson said. "And then we can come together at some point."
No official date is set for either film; however, fans of Shazam and Black Adam can take solace in the fact that Johnson holds the super-powered antihero close to his heart. “Growing up the DC villains were always my ‘heroes'," Johnson wrote February. "As evil as they were, they were always my favorite. Still are. Luthor, Joker, Brainiac, Sinestro etc. and of course the ruthless one, Black Adam. Cooking up some cool, bad ass and fun plans with DC to introduce Black Adam into the Universe.”
As far as any other tidbits on the "Black Adam" film, Johnson had this to offer: "It's just f*cking awesome."
