While some criticized Shazam!'s use of padding in Zachary Levi's superhero costume, it appears that won't be an issue for Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

"It’s a fun process when you have someone like [Johnson] who is so driven, disciplined, and determined to do the work," Johnson's strength coach Dave Rienzi told Muscle & Fitness. "There’s a continuously evolving vision that we are always working towards. We’ve been building up to the Black Adam movie for a while, with this goal of creating a real-life superhero physique… with no padded superhero suit necessary."

Johnson previously revealed his intense Black Adam training regimen, which begins with fasted cardio to greatly influence fat-burning. For his second workout of the day, he does resistance training using a traditional push/pull/legs split ("push" works the chest, triceps and shoulders, aka the "pushing" muscles, while "pull" works the back and biceps, aka the "pulling" muscles). Johnson also noted that he favors supersets and giant sets, in which you transition directly from one exercise to the next with as little rest as possible until you've completed a designated number of lifts within a circuit. Finally, he explained that the lifts he chooses for his routine are designed to work the targeted muscles from all angles, giving his physique a balanced and well-rounded look.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Pierce Brosnan, Quintessa Swindell, Mo Amer, Marwan Kenzari, Bodhi Sabongui, James Cusati-Moyer and Sarah Shahi. The film arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
