The Rotten Tomatoes score for The Rise of Skywalker has managed to drop enough since its initial release to score the lowest percentage for the entire main line film franchise.

With 52% positive reviews, the film just barely edged out The Phantom Menace's score. When The Rise of Skywalker was initially released, the film earned 58% on the review aggregator site from critics alone. That score was the second lowest percentage that any live-action Star Wars film had ever received, beating only The Phantom Menace's 53%.

The Rise of Skywalker fell below the other two films in the prequels, with Attack of the Clones scoring 65% and Revenge of the Sith earning 80%. Up until now, the Disney Star Wars films had some of the franchise's highest ratings –The Force Awakens at 93%, Rogue One at 83%, The Last Jedi at 91%, and even Solo, despite being a failure at the box office, earned 70%.

It's worth noting that this isn't the film's final score and even more reviews will come in over the next few weeks. So, it's possible that The Rise of Skywalker will bat the title of worst-reviewed live-action Star Wars film back to The Phantom Menace after all –or at least bring the two to a tie.

Additionally, while critical ratings for the most recent Star Wars flick are low, the audience score is significantly higher, ranking in at 86%. This score is higher than the audience rating for The Phantom Menace, which sits at 59%. Attack of the Clones has the lowest audience rank of any live-action Star Wars, scoring 56%.

As for the lowest rating Star Wars film overall? the animated film, Star Wars: The Clone Wars still holds that spot, scoring 18% positive reviews from critics and an audience score of 39%. The show this film spawned, on the other hand, became a fan-favorite of the series.
