Actor Mark Hamill has played a wide variety of different characters in both live-action and animation. The role he's most famous for is that of Luke Skywalker, who first appeared in A New Hope and whose story will come to an end in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. With the final instalment in the Skywalker saga just days away from its premiere, Hamill posted a eulogy of sorts on Twitter, to commemorate the iconic hero. "As the end draws near-I can't tell you how much 1 single role has meant to me over the years," Hamill began, before going on to say,"Because of him it seems like the whole world is my family. I will be grateful for that...Forever." The tweet was accompanied by photos and artwork from his time on Star Wars.RELATED: Star Wars: Palpatine Taunts Kylo Ren in New Rise of Skywalker Clip

Throughout his career, the Star Wars actor has become known for his willingness and enthusiasm when interacting with fans, particularly on social media. It's clear that he attributes that closeness with his fans to the undeniable success and cultural importance of George Lucas' franchise. The flood of positive responses to the tweet attests that.

Luke Skywalker seemingly met his end at the end of The Last Jedi, but will reportedly return for one final appearance in the upcoming conclusion to the sequel trilogy. The details of that appearance are scarce. Some theorize that he will appear as a Force ghost, as Obi-Wan and Yoda have throughout the franchise. The significance of that appearance has yet to be determined and there is speculation that it could be a brief cameo.
