Netflix has released a trailer for Season 2 of its Danish hit sci-fi series The Rain, confirming it will premiere May 17.

The clip showcases the latest adventures of the Andersen family, with Simone (Alba August) and her brother Rasmus (Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen), as they continue to flee the government, who are looking to experiment on the latter for a cure to the rainfall that turns people into zombie-like creatures.

The first season saw Simone's group realize Rasmus was immune to the virus as they successfully searched for their scientist father and his fellow government officials. This turned out to be a disaster and Simone's resistance fled once more, realizing their father hid them away as his colleagues wanted to weaponize the boy, whose genetic makeup would have turned him into a unique carrier.

Rasmus ended up turning into a carrier, and what stands out here is we actually see him manipulating the virus as if it's some sort of symbiote, a la Venom. This hints his posse will be packing a lot more firepower this season when the lab sends it soldiers for them, and that Rasmus may not just be the key to a cure, he may also be the damnation of all Scandinavia if he's not brought under control.
