The Punisher actor Jason R. Moore, who plays Frank Castle's friend Curtis Moore, thought that the show would be canceled following last year's deadly shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, which left 59 dead at a country music festival.

"I thought it was a wrap," Moore told Collider. "Because trailers had come out that’s like, dude, it’s a gun shooting a lady in the head. That’s what you see. I’m very sensitive to the political climate. So I was just like, ‘I gotta’ start looking for a job.’"

Following the shooting, Marvel and Netflix canceled an event centered around Punisher at New York Comic-Con, leading some to speculate that the show would be pulled altogether.

Still, seeing as Netflix has already canceled Iron Fist, Luke Cage and, most recently, Daredevil, it seems pretty likely that the streaming service will also pull the plug on Punisher once Season 2 releases next month. The third season of Jessica Jones is also expected to debut in early 2019.
