With the action thriller The Protégé coming to home video, an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette details the making of the film and the high attention to detail paid to the production by acclaimed filmmaker Martin Campbell.

Star Samuel L. Jackson recalls what kind of working environment Campbell brought to the set, with the fan-favorite director articulating a very clear vision of how he saw scenes unfold to the movie's cast, including co-star Maggie Q. This included planning for camera placement in order to best convey the physical drama to the audience as Campbell set up shots.

Jackson observed that he often picks apart films while watching them in his free time, but the work ethic and high detail-oriented approach Campbell brought to the production made for a relatively airtight final product. Jackson also complimented Campbell's vision.

Prior to working on The Protégé, Campbell helmed 1995's GoldenEye and 2006's Casino Royale, with both films introducing a new James Bond to movie audiences. This impressive filmmaking pedigree led to CBR's own advance review for The Protégé praising the action thrills and effective performance from Maggie Q, as she and Campbell breathed life into a well-worn genre.

Directed by Martin Campbell, The Protégé is out on digital HD Sept. 21 and on Blu-ray/4K UHD Oct. 19.
