Shane Black's The Predator gave fans another take on the famous Predator-hounds in the franchise, but according to some new concept art released, fans almost got a Predator-monkey hybrid as well.

Concept artist Constantine Sekeris revealed a look at the creature on his Instagram in different environments, however, he's not sure at what point in the film Black intended to use it. The creature has a monkey's body and tail, but this time it seems like something out of the Cloverfield franchise, with six lengthy limbs and, of course, the signature face of the alien bounty hunter.

The artist notes it may have been found in the Ultimate Predator's space pod, where the Predator Gauntlet was kept and other scientific experiments took place associated with Earth and its denizens. However, he also indicated it could have been engineered by the U.S. government, which was experimenting on the relics and DNA the hunters left behind in Black's follow-up to the original movie.

Well, the hybrid didn't end up making the cut, and seeing as the film didn't fare well critically and financially, it doesn't look like we'll be getting a chance to see it appear anywhere in the Predator universe anytime soon.

Directed by Shane Black from a script he wrote with Fred Dekker, The Predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski.
