WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Power Rangers #14, available now from Boom! Studios.

The Omega Rangers have seen world after world eradicated by the Empyreal threat over the past few months, and now those same enemies have arrived back on Earth. In the wake of two devastating attacks, the Rangers and their oldest enemies have lost everything, forcing them to join forces after so many years spent battling one another. And while they might not have a great track record when it comes to battling the Power Rangers, the original Evil Space Aliens have proven they can still pose a threat of their own.

Following the total destruction of both Angel Grove and Bandora Palace at the hands of the Empyreals, the Power Rangers and surviving Evil Space Aliens have banded together to fight back against the invading forces. Unfortunately, that includes the full might of the Eltarian army as well as their interdimensional champions, not to mention the frightening soldiers of Sentry Force Four. In spite of such overwhelming odds, the defending forces are still able to rescue the Bronze Guardian Zelya with the help of Finster and his Putties. As incredible as it is to see the Lord Zedd's henchmen fighting alongside the heroes, even more impressive is how powerful they actually are.

Power Rangers #14 by Ryan Parrott, Francesco Mortarino, Christian Prunesti, Raul Angulo, and Ed Dukeshire sees the Rangers and Sentry Force Four once again face off against one another, only this time the heroes are the ones with backup. Squatt, Baboo, and Goldar all have a role to play on the battlefield, and each of them are instrumental in taking down the members of Sentry Force Four. From using potions to toy with perception to employing brute force to ground otherwise airborne threats, the Evil Space Aliens manipulate and tear through their targets. The battle itself is jaw dropping, but it is the fact that Zedd's minions are the ones winning it that proves to be truly shocking.

Goldar, Squatt, Baboo, and Finster, collectively known as the Evil Space Aliens, have been part of the Power Rangers franchise ever since the very first episode aired on television in 1993. Serving directly under Rita Repulsa and later Lord Zedd, these classic villains have long been an iconic part of the series, though that doesn't mean they have ever been taken particularly seriously. Goldar has always been the most menacing of the four, yet even he was relegated to more of a slapstick comic relief character shortly after being introduced. While the comics have given these characters some opportunities to pose a greater threat, especially their time serving as Dark Rangers, even the Boom! Studios creative teams have them cracking jokes more often than skulls. That being the case, it is genuinely surprising to see them so effectively take on any threat, let alone Eltar's finest.

There is the obvious question of whether the Evil Space Aliens are more effective under the Rangers' leadership than the villains they are used to working for. Then again, it is not any secret that at least some of them have been holding back in their battles with the Power Rangers, and the Eltarian invasion is more than enough reason to not continue to pull punches. Whatever the case, these classic villains have finally proven that they are capable of winning the fights that really matter. With any luck, they'll be on the same side as the Power Rangers in the battles to come.
