WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Mighty Morphin #13, available now from Boom! Studios.

Over their decades long history, the Power Rangers have taken part in some of the most epic confrontations of all time, yet every single one of them pales in comparison to the battle they are about to face. When they needed help the most, the fabled Guardians of Eltar arrived to save the day, only to turn on the heroes and launch a full scale invasion of the Earth of their own. With the stakes higher than ever before, there is no room for error on the part of the Power Rangers, which makes the fact that they're already losing all the more horrifying.

The revelation that the Guardians had come to Earth when Zelya made her presence known to the team was, at least at the time, just what the heroes needed. Even the Bronze Guardian herself was unaware of the true nature of her missions, believing them to be far more benevolent in nature than what Supreme Guardian Zartus had in mind. It wasn't long before Zartus' true intentions were made clear, and when the Supreme Guardian finally confronted Zordon with them face-to-face, their conversation ended in the apparent demise of the Mighty Morphin mentor. In that moment the Power Rangers didn't just lose their leader, but their Command Center as well, now overrun with Eltarian soldiers who have wasted no time in hunting down Billy Cranston and Alpha. Thankfully, the rest of the Rangers have managed to stay out of harm's way for the most part, that alone doesn't come close to evening the staggering odds seen in Mighty Morphin #13 by Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, Walter Baiamonte, Sara Antonellini, Katia Ranalli, and Ed Dukeshire.

While Tommy and Aisha were busy attending to more personal matters, Rocky, Adam, and Kimberly were only barely able to escape the full might of Sentry Force Four bearing down on them in brutal fashion. Once the remaining Rangers have all regrouped back at Promethea, they are quick to begin planning just how they're going to save their friends before time runs out. As Grace Sterling points out, it is already too late to do anything for the others, and might even be too late to save the world as they know it. The assembled heroes might not be aware of what happened at the Command Center, but Grace knows well enough that Zordon isn't around anymore to help them.

She also knows that there are at least six ships full of Eltarian soldiers headed straight for them, not to mention that their enemies have shut down any chance of them teleporting to safety. As far as any of them are concerned, a typical monster attack would be a blessing compared to the Eltarian invasion, especially when so many of the nuances of all out war being relatively foreign to the Power Rangers. That isn't to take away from the battles they've fought against the likes of Lord Zedd, Rita Repulsa, or their respective armies, but the threat posed by the invading Eltarians is beyond anything they've ever seen. The heroes might have a few allies left to lend a hand in the days to come, yet they are still outmatched and outnumbered with no real sense of direction to speak of.

If nothing else, Grace Sterling is there to keep the Rangers composed and try to lead them through the battles that lie ahead of them. Unfortunately, she and Promethea might be all that they have going for them. Their Omega counterparts aren't faring much better out in space, and most certainly aren't in any position to return home to take part in this particular fight. With no one else coming to the rescue, the Power Rangers can only hope that the invading forces will somehow falter in their attempt to take over the world. If not, there likely won't be one left to fight for by the time the Eltarian War is over with.
