Oswald Cobblepot comes face to face with his father's ghost in a scene from Monday's mideseason premiere of "Gotham."

Played by Robin Lord Taylor, The Penguin met his biological father Elijah Van Dahl (Paul Reubens) for the first time in Season Two. The reunion was short lived, however, as Elijah was murdered before he could add his son to his will.

In this clip from Monday's midseason premiere, an episode appropriately titled "Ghosts," Cobblepot is visited in the night by the spirit of his father. While obviously frightened, Cobblepot listens to his warning that “he” is not to be trusted. While we’re not sure who “he” is, it’s almost guaranteed that will be revealed at some point this season.

Here's the official synopsis for the episode, which also marks the (possibly spectral) return of Cameron Monaghan as Jerome:

Falcone places a hit on Gordon after learning that he shot Mario. Gordon and Bullock discover a follower of Jerome (guest star Cameron Monaghan), who plans to bring him back to life. Meanwhile, Penguin spirals out of control before the biggest television interview of his Mayoral career, and Bruce and Selina deal with Selina’s mom’s return to Gotham.

Returning Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, "Gotham" stars Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordon, David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova as young Selina Kyle, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins and Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney.
