If you missed out on the original 1966 Batmobile when it sold at auction in 2013 for a staggering $4.62 million, here’s your second chance.
Robb Report notes that the customized 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car from the Batman television series is for sale once again, this time in the Barrett-Jackson showroom in Scottsdale, Arizona. However, it’s not listed at the same Bat-price. It’s gone up.
This is the car purchased from Ford for $1 by legendary customizer George Barris, who transformed it into the TV Batmobile in just 15 days with a budget of $15,000. He went on to build three more replicas, and when the TV series ended, he purchased the 19-foot-long original and placed it on display in his North Hollywood custom-car shop.
The Batmobile was bought in January 2013 by Arizona businessman, and lifelong Batman fan, Rick Champagne, who said at the time that he’d probably keep the car in his living room. But less than two years later, and it’s up for sale again.
The price? A cool $5 million.
