The father of Jan's baby has been revealed, long after The Office concluded, and it's not what many fan theories would have supposed.

The podcast Office Ladies revealed the news, as reported by MashableOffice Ladies is an hour-long show hosted by two of the show's stars, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who play Pam Beesly and Angela Martin on the show respectively. Each week, Fischer and Kinsey break down episodes of The Office, exploring behind the scenes stories and cut narratives. The most recent episode of the podcast focuses on Goodbye Toby Part 2, and addresses Michael Scott finding out his ex Jan Levinson is pregnant. While the identity of the baby's father was largely kept under wraps, Kinsey has now revealed him to be pro tennis player and The Office fan Andy Roddick.

"In the script — and it didn't make it to the deleted scenes — Jan reveals whose sperm she bought," Kinsey explained to Fischer. "Jan says: 'You have to pay top dollar, but it's worth it. Now, here's the best part. I got Andy Roddick's sperm.' Jan looks to Michael like she's expecting him to be very impressed. And Michael says, 'The tennis player?' And Jan says, 'Well, it's a little more than that. He's the sixth ranked player in the world and he's won four grand slams.'"

The banter between the two characters continues past this scene, according to Kinsey's explanation of the script. The description of it came as a surprise to Fischer, who was unaware of the scene until that moment.

Roddick's inclusion in The Office may have been due to his friendship with Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight in the show, as well as the fact that Roddick was a big fan of the series. According to Fischer, Roddick came by the set one day, which may have been the cause for the tennis player having been written into the show, in addition to his sense of humor. The revelation comes as a surprise not only to fans, some of whom predicted that the father of Jan's child was actually Kevin the whole time, but apparently to The Office actors as well, an entire thirteen years after the episode's original airdate.

The first two seasons of The Office are available for free on Peacock, with Seasons 3-9 and The Office: Superfan Episodes available on Peacock Premium for $4.99/month. The ad-free Peacock Premium Plus is $9.99/month.
