Anya Taylor-Joy, who portrays Illyana Rasputin/Magik in The New Mutants, recently spoke to what it was like to finally watch the film's final cut with her fellow cast members and director Josh Boone."I have seen the final cut of the movie, which is really nice because Josh is really happy with it and it was just nice to get the gang all together again," Taylor-Joy told Collider. "It's felt like this imaginary friend that you keep telling people is real but other people haven't seen it yet and now I'm like, 'No, I told you it's a real thing.'"RELATED: The New Mutants Star Says Movie Got a 'Bad Rep' Due to Disney/Fox Merger

Though initially planned to release on April 13, 2018, The New Mutants experienced several delays, putting the film's actual premiere date in a state of uncertainty. Many were unsure if the film would ever release at all, given the merger between The Walt Disney Company and 20th Century Fox giving the latter control over Marvel's X-Men characters. However, in 2019, The New Mutants officially received a 2020 release date. The film centers around a group of young mutants all residing in a creepy facility, where strange things begin to happen.

Anya Taylor-Joy currently has a lot on her plate as she appears in several movies premiering in 2020, including The New Mutants, Emma and Last Night in Soho. She is also set to star in the Eoin Macken-directed film, Here Are the Young Men, which doesn't currently have a release date.
