The Walt Disney Company has unveiled its slate of movies through 2027, and in doing so, confirmed the release date of the formerly Fox-owned New Mutants film has been pushed back yet again.

The X-Men spinoff The New Mutants will now arrive in theaters on April 3, 2020. It was initially slated to arrive April 13, 2018 before being bumped to February 22, 2019, and most recently, August 2, 2019.

As for the reason behind the latest delay, one can surmise it stems from Disney's recent acquisition of 21st Centruy Fox, along with long-rumored reshoots that reportedly haven't even taken place yet. In fact, even members of the film's cast, such as Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, are in the dark about the status of the project.

Regardless, for the time being, it appears The New Mutants is still alive.

The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy (Atlantis) as Magik, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Blu Hunt (The Originals) as Dani Moonstar and Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot. The film is scheduled to be released April 3, 2020.
